Goldsboro Police Respond to Thursday Morning Shooting

On Thursday at approximately 8:34 a.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 900 block of Hugh Street.
Shortly after responding, officers located the victim, Aaron D. Smith II, 23, in the public vehicular area near a parked vehicle. Smith was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. read more »

Crash Kills Pedestrian on Berkeley Boulevard

On Aug. 16 at approximately 8:28 p.m., the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a traffic crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of N. Berkeley Boulevard and Caudill Avenue.
Upon arriving on scene, officers discovered that a 64-year-old male, Willie Hugh Harvey, had been crossing Berkeley Boulevard on foot when he was struck by a black 2011 Mercedes SUV driven by a 38-year-old male traveling southbound on Berkeley Boulevard. read more »

Overnight I-40 Closures Continue for Bridge Work

RALEIGH – Work on the Complete 540 project is scheduled to continue with overnight closures planned along Interstate 40 this week and into early next week.
Weather permitting, I-40 East is set to close at U.S. 70 East (Exit 309) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Aug. 16 through Aug. 21, so crews can safely remove old bridge girders and columns over the interstate. I-40 East traffic will be detoured along U.S. 70 East and N.C. 42 West to return to the interstate.read more »
