On Thursday at approximately 8:34 a.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 900 block of Hugh Street.
Shortly after responding, officers located the victim, Aaron D. Smith II, 23, in the public vehicular area near a parked vehicle. Smith was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. … read more »

RALEIGH – Work on the Complete 540 project is scheduled to continue with overnight closures planned along Interstate 40 this week and into early next week.
Weather permitting, I-40 East is set to close at U.S. 70 East (Exit 309) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Aug. 16 through Aug. 21, so crews can safely remove old bridge girders and columns over the interstate.
