Goldsboro Police Respond to Thursday Morning Shooting

On Thursday at approximately 8:34 a.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 900 block of Hugh Street.

Shortly after responding, officers located the victim, Aaron D. Smith II, 23, in the public vehicular area near a parked vehicle. Smith was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

EMS responded and transported Smith to UNC Health Wayne. Smith was subsequently transported to ECU Health Medical Center for further treatment. Smith was in critical condition. The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau responded to the scene. This investigation is ongoing.
