Thursday Night Shooting Leaves 22-Year-Old Male in Critical Condition

On Aug. 17 at approximately 10:09 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Department responded to the 100 block of Brazil Street for a report of shots fired. Several 911 calls were received as well as an alert from the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system.

As officers were responding, a call was received from a male victim stating that he had been shot. Officers arrived and located Yzionexd Spruill, a 22-year-old male, suffering from a gunshot wound. Spruill was transported to UNC Health Wayne for treatment and was subsequently flown to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.

Spruill was said to be in critical but stable condition. The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau was contacted and responded to the scene. This investigation is still developing.
