Arrest Made in Aug. 6 Shooting of Juvenile

On Aug. 6. at 6:18 a.m., Goldsboro Police Department A-Shift officers, along with Wayne County EMS and Goldsboro Fire, were dispatched to 117 Astor Ct. in reference to the report of a shooting. Once on the scene, an 8-year-old juvenile was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the left lower leg. The juvenile was transported to UNC Health Wayne and then transferred to ECU Health in Greenville for further treatment of his injury.read more »

N.C. DMV Seeking Applicants to Operate Goldsboro Agency

ROCKY MOUNT – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles is seeking applicants for a commissioned contractor to operate a license plate agency (LPA) in Goldsboro.

In North Carolina, NCDMV oversees LPAs, but the agencies are managed by private businesses or local governments. The current agency, at 1801 E. Ash St., in Goldsboro, is operating under a temporary contract by Laura Meyers following the recent passing of longtime operator Annalee Griffin.read more »

Suspect Arrested in July 19 Shooting

On July 19 at approximately 10:16 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Day Circle. Officers located a 17-year-old male suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to UNC Health Wayne for treatment.

The victim was subsequently taken to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville for further treatment of the gunshot wound. The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau responded to the scene and began an investigation.read more »

United Way of Wayne County Hosts Volunteer Fair

As adults, high school students, eager volunteers and nonprofit organizations all mingled inside the crowded Maxwell Center on Wednesday morning, it was a ringing testament to Wayne County’s desire to take care of its own.

The United Way of Wayne County hosted its third annual Volunteer Fair as nonprofits from throughout the county set up displays intent on sharing their respective causes with potential volunteers. The Volunteer Fair was supported by a grant from Americorps Volunteer Generation Fund through Volunteer NC in the office of Governor Roy Cooper.read more »
