According to the National Weather Service, rain that began across Wayne County on Tuesday evening is expected to continue until Wednesday night.
Wayne County was expected to receive between a quarter and a half an inch of rain on Tuesday night, with an additional quarter to a half an inch expected to fall on Wednesday. The temperature on Wednesday is supposed to rise near 70 degrees.
Despite four to six inches of rain that fell across Wayne County on Dec. 17, Wayne County Cooperative Extension Director Kevin Johnson believes Wednesday’s wet weather shouldn’t have a significant impact across the county.
“I’m not quite as concerned about (Wednesday), Johnson said. “If we were in September and October, I would be more concerned, but most of our crops are out of the ground and our animals are in climate-controlled environments so we’re in pretty good shape. Just about all of our farmers who grow soybeans have gotten them out of the ground, so we should be OK.”
Colder temperatures are expected to return on Friday and remain in the area for several days, with highs near 50, and lows near 30.
