CALYPSO — Early Sunday morning just before sunrise firefighters from Calypso, Faison, Mount Olive, Smith Chapel, and Duplin County EMS medic 4 were dispatched to a possible structure fire on Cameron Street in Calypso.
As EMS medic 4 arrived on the scene they reported smoke coming from the rear of the residence. The first incoming engine from Calypso stopped in front of the abandoned resident and firefighterspulled an attack line, proceeded to the rear of the structure, and quickly knocked down the blaze.
Due to the nature of the fire, fire officials on the scene called for the Duplin County Sheriff’s Departmentto respond to the scene to assist in the investigation and cause of the fire.
