Wayne County Public Library Receives Two Grants

The Wayne County Public has been awarded two separate grants totaling nearly $95,000.

The library received a $44,902.00 LSTA EZ Grant to be used for the Creative Aging Program. Also awarded to the library was a $50,000 LSTA EZ Grant to be used for the Learning Studio Project.read more »

Hundreds of people gathered in downtown Goldsboro on Saturday afternoon for the third annual Juneteenth celebration.

Convicted Felon Arrested For Possession of Firearm

On June 15th at approximately 2 p.m., officers from Goldsboro Police Department’s VICE Unit and Special Enforcement Unit were performing surveillance of the parking lot at 518 E. Elm St., which is Donel Express Mart.

While conducting surveillance, Special Enforcement Unit officers witnessed a man in a white T-shirt with a black bag in the parking lot area conducting several hand-to-hand transactions that were consistent with drug transactions. On Saturday morning at approximately 12:27 a.m., the Goldsboro Fire Department responded to 410 S. Leslie St. in reference to a fully-involved structure fire. After approximately 20 minutes of firefighting, the flames were brought under control. The Goldsboro Fire Department deemed the fire suspicious and contacted the Goldsboro Police Department and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.read more »

A dream of providing more affordable housing options in Goldsboro that began roughly four years ago became a reality on Friday.
A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held at Central Garden Apartments, a new affordable housing apartment community, located at 3222 Central Heights Road.
North Carolina House Majority Leader John Bell was in attendance to present a ceremonial Workforce Housing Loan Program Check. The development of Central Gardens was made possible in part by a historic $190 million appropriation made by the NC General Assembly last year to the state’s Workforce Housing Loan Program. read more »
