PIKEVILLE – As Charles B. Aycock prepares to enter year three under head coach Tom Zietlow the Golden Falcons are hoping to build off a 2022 season that was full of positives despite a disappointing finish.

Aycock went 9-2 a year ago, finished first in the 3-A Quad County Conference before losing the regular season finale to county rival Southern Wayne. The Golden Falcons’ season came to an abrupt end with a 53-28 home loss to Triton in the first round of the NCHSAA 3-A state playoffs.read more »

Rosewood Football Hits Practice Field

Rosewood officially began its first season under new head football coach Josh Smith as the Eagles hit the practice field on Monday and Tuesday mornings.

Smith, a 2000 Rosewood graduate, and his coaching staff put roughly 50 players through rigorous conditioning drills as practice drew to a close on Tuesday. Former Eagles’ head coach Robert Britt stepped down in December, after serving as head coach since 2007. Rosewood finished 10-5 in Britt’s final season, and lost at Tarboro in the 1-A Eastern Finals.read more »
