On June 15th at approximately 2 p.m., officers from Goldsboro Police Department’s VICE Unit and Special Enforcement Unit were performing surveillance of the parking lot at 518 E. Elm St., which is Donel Express Mart.

While conducting surveillance, Special Enforcement Unit officers witnessed a man in a white T-shirt with a black bag in the parking lot area conducting several hand-to-hand transactions that were consistent with drug transactions. On Saturday morning at approximately 12:27 a.m., the Goldsboro Fire Department responded to 410 S. Leslie St. in reference to a fully-involved structure fire. After approximately 20 minutes of firefighting, the flames were brought under control. A dream of providing more affordable housing options in Goldsboro that began roughly four years ago became a reality on Friday.
A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held at Central Garden Apartments, a new affordable housing apartment community, located at 3222 Central Heights Road.
North Carolina House Majority Leader John Bell was in attendance to present a ceremonial Workforce Housing Loan Program Check.
