Wayne County’s latest unemployment figures show a significant month-over-month improvement. According to the latest figures from the N.C. Department of Commerce, Wayne County’s seasonally non-adjusted jobless rate decreased to 4.0% in September. Wayne County Public Schools reported a COVID-19 cluster on Tuesday involving five students in the fourth/fifth grade multiage class at Fremont Elementary. As part of its COVID-19 response protocols, WCPS reported and confirmed the cluster with the local health department. Wayne County approves new commissioner districts. The county had to undertake the redistricting process following the 2020 Census.
