Wayne County’s Unemployment Rate Down To 4% In September

Wayne County’s latest unemployment figures show a significant month-over-month improvement.  According to the latest figures from the N.C. Department of Commerce, Wayne County’s seasonally non-adjusted jobless rate decreased to 4.0% in September.  That’s down from the 4.7% unemployment rate recorded in August and much improved from the 6.4% jobless rate seen in September of 2020. …read more »

Wayne County Public Schools reported a COVID-19 cluster on Tuesday involving five students in the fourth/fifth grade multiage class at Fremont Elementary. Wayne County approves new commissioner districts.  The county had to undertake the redistricting process following the 2020 Census.  County Staff Attorney Andrew Neal went through the redrawn districts at last week’s Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting.
