GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Two juveniles have been charged following an investigation into a break-in at the Grantham Pool and a separate vandalism incident at Grantham Middle School, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began on June 20, 2026, after deputies responded to a reported breaking and entering at Grantham Pool, located at 137 Grantham School Road in Goldsboro. Authorities said numerous items were stolen during the incident.
Two days later, on June 22, security camera footage captured two juveniles trespassing on the property of Grantham Middle School. Investigators said the pair threw several cinderblocks from the roof of the school, causing significant damage after the blocks were destroyed upon impact.
Deputies had previously located and identified the two juveniles on June 21 and escorted them home. As the investigation continued, authorities determined that the same two juveniles were responsible for both the break-in at the Grantham Pool and the vandalism at Grantham Middle School.
Juvenile petitions have been obtained against a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old in connection with the incidents.
The juveniles are each charged with:
- One count of Breaking and/or Entering
- One count of Larceny Pursuant to Breaking and/or Entering
- Two counts of Second-Degree Trespass
- One count of Injury to Personal Property
Because the suspects are juveniles, their identities have not been released.
