June 28, 2026, 74, Kenly – Rebecca “Becky” Adams Vanier, 74, passed away at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield on Sunday, June 28, 2026. Born in Johnston County on January 10, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Charles Adams and Flossie Jones Adams.
In addition to her parents, Becky is preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Feldbrush.
Becky is survived by her son, Josh and wife, Hilary Adams; her grandchildren, Cameron Adams, Cailey Adams, and Gracelyn Adams; and siblings, Charles “Buster” Adams, Mary Ruth Benway, Frances Moore, and Bonnie McCormac. Becky is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved.
Becky lived a life centered on the people she loved most—her family. A devoted mother, nanny, sister and friend, she found her greatest joy in spending time with those she held dear, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Becky was their biggest supporter, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on from the stands at their ball games or any event they were involved in. Whether it was celebrating their accomplishments or simply being present, she made sure they always knew they were loved and encouraged. She also delighted in making their favorite meals and treats, ensuring they always had the foods they enjoyed most. Nanny’s home was a place of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, support, and dedication to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Per Becky’s request, no formal services will be held at this time. The family will plan a celebration of life for Becky at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Rd, Smithfield, NC 27577.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kenly Funeral Service.
