GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The gridiron is calling as nine teams prepare to compete for bragging rights during the annual Freedom Fest Flag Football Tournament at the Bryan Multi-Sport Complex.
The four-day tournament runs Tuesday, Sept. 8 through Friday, Sept. 11, bringing together competition, sportsmanship and community pride in a fast-paced, single-elimination format.
This year’s tournament is centered around five core values: Compete, Respect, Unity, Pride and Freedom.
Action begins Tuesday with three opening-round games. At 6 p.m., No. 8 seed 4CES takes on No. 9 4SFS, followed by No. 4 AMMO against No. 5 JUGGERNAUTS at 7 p.m. The opening night concludes at 8 p.m. when No. 3 40SS faces No. 6 OGs.
The competition continues Wednesday with the quarterfinal round. No. 1 seed 4CMS will face the winner of Tuesday’s opening game at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., No. 7 4CS will take on the winner of the AMMO-JUGGERNAUTS matchup. No. 2 AMXS will close out Wednesday’s action at 8 p.m. against the winner of the 40SS-OGs game.
The surviving teams will advance to Thursday’s semifinals, with games scheduled for 6 and 7 p.m.
Everything culminates Friday evening. The tournament’s third-place game is scheduled for 6 p.m., followed by the Freedom Fest Flag Football Championship Game at 7 p.m.
Under tournament rules, the higher-seeded team will serve as the home team throughout the competition.
Fans, families and members of the community are encouraged to come out to the Bryan Multi-Sport Complex throughout the week to cheer on the teams and enjoy the competition as they battle to see who will let freedom ring on the field
