June 29, 2026, 81, Warsaw – Mrs. Lucy Christine Summerlin Espin, age 81, passed away Monday afternoon, June 29, 2026, at ECU Medical Center in Greenville.
Mrs. Espin had been a long-time employee of the Lundy Packing Company. After retirement, she had held several other jobs on a short-term basis.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, at 11:00 a.m. by the graveside at Devotional Gardens at Warsaw. Presiding will be the Rev. James DeLuca. Her family will receive friends at the cemetery.
Mrs. Espin is survived by her husband, David P. Espin; her three sons and their wives, Larry and Beverly Summerlin of Turkey, Gary and Shannan Batchelor of Turkey, and Thomas and Martha Batchelor of Kenansville; seven grandchildren, Brody Batchelor, Sam Batchelor, Abigail Batchelor, Logan Batchelor, Leslie Batchelor, Jeffrey Summerlin, and Jessica Summerlin; a great-grandson, Brantley Summerlin; two sisters, Mavis Summerlin and Joyce Sage; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, Leslie Summerlin and Lucy Taylor Summerlin, as well as several siblings, Debbie Jean Summerlin, Lois S. Allen, Milton Summerlin, Mary S. Outlaw, and Hubert Summerlin, preceded Christine in death.
