Born in Wayne County on October 12, 1946, Melvin was the son of the late Melvin Roy Andrews Sr. and Mary Etta Wood Andrews. A man known for his strong work ethic, mechanical ability, and willingness to help others, Melvin truly embodied the phrase “jack of all trades.” He spent much of his life using his talents to repair, build, and create.
As the owner and operator of Andrews Professional Home Repairs, Melvin earned the respect of countless customers through his honesty, craftsmanship, and dedication. In later years, he continued doing what he loved while working alongside his son-in-law with Cameron Mitchell Homes, where his experience, wisdom, and dependable nature made him an invaluable part of the team.
Melvin especially enjoyed spending time in his workshop, where there was always a project underway. Whether repairing something that others thought could not be fixed or tinkering with his old cars, he found joy in working with his hands. Beyond his many talents, he will be remembered most for his devotion to his family, his quiet strength, and the love he shared with those closest to him.
He leaves behind cherished memories for his beloved wife of 52 years, Debbie Andrews; his daughters, Khristal Andrews (Anthony Pearce), Kelly Mitchell (Cameron) and Kim Andrews; his sons, Melvin R. Andrews III (Janet) and Shon D. Andrews; his sister, Frances Dunn; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and his faithful beloved cat, “Trouble.”
