June 17, 2026, 64, Goldsboro – Ms. Brigitte “Brie” Monique Smith, 64, went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2026. Known for her strong faith and equally strong family ties and friendships, she welcomed those around her as extended family members.
Born in France to John and Mary Smith, she and her family travelled extensively while her father was in the military. After moving to Goldsboro, NC, Brie graduated from Eastern Wayne High School and attended East Carolina University Art School. Brie went on to do creative work for a company in Goldsboro and the Goldsboro News Argus. She transitioned to working at Wayne Community College where her love for people and her sense of humor put students at ease as they prepared for GED testing.
As aunt to her two nieces and one nephew and to the children of countless neighbors and friends, she brought joy through planning activities, parties, small gifts, and handmade, personalized cards. She lovingly cared for her parents, and most recently her mother.
Brie loved cooking, tutoring adults at Literacy Connections, thrifting handbags, weaving, visiting the beach, yard work, watching travel shows, shopping arts and crafts stores, and keeping her family and friends uplifted with prayers and her wonderful sense of humor. She will truly be missed. There will be no formal services.
