Institutions accredited by SACSCOC are required to undergo a comprehensive review for reaffirmation of accreditation every 10 years. WCC was fully accredited by SACSCOC in 1970.
The reaffirmation process first required WCC to submit a compliance certification that was evaluated by an off-site committee before the next step, which is the on-site visit.
The SACSCOC Reaffirmation Committee conducted an on-site evaluation of WCC in October 2025, and the committee had no findings or recommendations, showing that the visit was a success and there were no areas of noncompliance.
The SACSCOC Board of Trustees voted to reaffirm WCC’s accreditation at its meeting this month.
“We are pleased that SACSCOC has reaffirmed WCC’s accreditation, acknowledging our compliance with their organization’s standards,” said Dr. Patty Pfeiffer, WCC president. “I am grateful for our outstanding faculty and staff who work diligently to maintain excellence in our processes, demonstrating the team effort that allows us to continue offering credentials to our students.”
“Receiving reaffirmation with no findings or recommendations is an outstanding achievement and reflects the culture of excellence that exists throughout Wayne Community College,” said Dr. Dorothy Moore, WCC associate vice president of institutional effectiveness, chief of staff, and SACSCOC liaison.
“This result demonstrates our institution’s commitment to meeting the highest standards of higher education while keeping student learning and success at the center of everything we do,” Moore said. “I am grateful to everyone across the college who contributed to this successful reaffirmation effort.”
SACSCOC also approved WCC’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), a long-term, focused initiative designed to improve specific aspects of student learning and success.
WCC’s QEP is titled CORE: Career Opportunities, Resources, and Employability. The QEP aims to design career services resources to help students transition from their academic journey to their career.
