GOLDSBORO, N.C. — United Way of Wayne County will officially launch its 2026 Community Campaign next month, bringing together community members, business leaders, volunteers and supporters as the organization works toward an $850,000 fundraising goal.
The 2026 Community Campaign Kick-Off will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9, at noon at the United Way of Wayne County office, 309 N. William Street in Goldsboro. The event is free and open to the public.
During the gathering, Campaign Chair Maegen Wilson will announce how much has already been raised toward the $850,000 goal through early contributions from United Way’s Front Runner major investors.
“This is an exciting time for United Way of Wayne County and for our community,” Wilson said. “Our Front Runner investors have once again stepped up early to demonstrate their commitment to making Wayne County a stronger place for everyone.”
Wilson said the kick-off will give United Way an opportunity to share that early momentum with the community while encouraging more people to become involved in the campaign.
“We are excited to share that momentum with the entire community and invite everyone to be part of this year’s campaign,” Wilson said.
Campaign Kick-Off to Highlight United Way’s Changing Focus
In addition to providing an update on fundraising efforts, the event will offer a look at United Way of Wayne County’s ongoing Issue Focus Transformation.
The multi-year initiative is designed to concentrate the organization’s resources and community investments on issues that have the greatest impact on financial stability and the ability of Wayne County residents to thrive.
United Way board leaders will discuss the community’s work to identify and address the root causes of financial instability, along with the key pillars expected to guide future investments and programming.
Attendees will also learn more about the organization’s next Community Summit, where local leaders and stakeholders will continue working together to identify solutions and develop strategies to address those challenges.
United Way officials say the Issue Focus effort is intended to move beyond addressing immediate symptoms and instead bring organizations and residents together to create meaningful, long-term change.
Food, Fellowship and a Look at What’s Ahead
United Way is encouraging supporters, community partners and anyone interested in the future of Wayne County to attend, learn more about the campaign and discover ways they can help build a stronger community.
The event begins at noon Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 309 N. William Street in Goldsboro. Admission is free.
