GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Two juveniles have been charged with murder after investigators determined a 29-year-old Goldsboro man found dead following an early-morning vehicle crash had been shot before the crash.
The Goldsboro Police Department identified the victim as Anthony Hutchinson, 29, of Goldsboro.
Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of West Holly Street at approximately 5:26 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, following a report of a motor vehicle crash.
When officers arrived, they found Hutchinson deceased inside the vehicle. The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau was called to the scene to investigate.
According to an update from police, investigators determined that Hutchinson had been shot prior to crashing his vehicle.
During the investigation, detectives developed two juvenile suspects — a 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, both from Goldsboro.
Police said both juveniles were arrested and each was charged with one open count of murder.
Following their arrests, the suspects were transported to the Pitt Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
Because the suspects are juveniles, their names were not released.
The Goldsboro Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing. Additional information could be released as the investigation develops.
