GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Goldsboro woman was airlifted to a regional trauma center after being shot early Thursday morning, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.
Officers responded to the 800 block of West Oak Street at approximately 12:50 a.m. on June 11 after receiving a ShotSpotter alert indicating gunfire in the area.
When officers arrived, they learned that a female victim had suffered a gunshot wound and was located in the 100 block of Vanderbilt Circle. The victim was identified as 25-year-old Jacquelyn Westry of Goldsboro.
Westry was initially transported to UNC Health Wayne before being airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center for further treatment. Her current condition has not been released.
The Goldsboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and has assumed responsibility for the investigation. Detectives have not released any information regarding potential suspects or a motive.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
