June 6, 2026, 90, Wendell – Gail Davis Radford, age 90, went to be with the Lord on Saturday afternoon, June 6, 2026 just weeks shy of her 91st birthday.
Gail was born on July 2, 1935, and grew up in the Brogden Community of Johnston County. She was the daughter of the late John Richard Davis and Rushia Ann Overman Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Radford and her sisters, Helen Davis, Madge Woodall, Lugean Slater and Carol Barber.
Gail was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1953. On July 3, 1953, she married her husband of 64 years, Aubrey Radford. They spent their lives together on their farm in Johnston County, raising tobacco, corn, soybeans, sweet potatoes and chickens. They also enjoyed traveling extensively, visiting all 48 continental states, as well as Canada and Mexico.
Gail was a longtime member of Rains Crossroads FWB Church, where she served as treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary. After Aubrey’s death in 2017, she moved to Greensboro to be closer to family and more recently, to Wendell, where both of her children reside. During her final years, Gail filled her days with reading, making crafts and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Michael Radford (Carol) of Wendell; her daughter, Karen Spivey of Wendell; her sister, Holly Hollyday of Magnolia, Texas; her brother, John Shelton Davis (Louise) of Smithfield; her sister-in-law, Christine Peedin of Roanoke Rapids; four grandchildren, Amanda Radford, Melissa Raynor (Nathan), Blake Spivey, and Bethany Black (Charles); and three great-grandchildren, Bennett Raynor, Emma Raynor, and Finnley Black, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
At Gail’s request, there will be no formal service. Family and friends are invited to gather at Casey Funeral Home & Cremations in Princeton on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
The family would like to thank the doctors at WakeMed Raleigh and the staff of Transitions LifeCare for their devoted and compassionate care for Gail during her final days.
