The United Way of Wayne County is proud to recognize local volunteers who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to serving their community.
The Governor’s Volunteer Service Award honors individuals who have made a significant impact through their volunteer efforts, showing compassion and commitment to improving the lives of others. Established in 1979 by the Office of the Governor, this prestigious award is North Carolina’s highest recognition for volunteerism.
The 2025 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award recipients from Wayne County are:

Additionally, Becky and Chip Craig have been awarded the Governor’s Medallion Award, a distinguished honor given to only a select few volunteers across the state for their extraordinary service and impact.
These dedicated volunteers will be formally recognized during the A Night Full of Heroes Volunteer Ceremony.
