Janice Sanderson Brock, 80, of the Brock’s Chapel section near Mount Olive, passed away Monday morning, February 24, 2025, joining her husband, Curt, just nine days after his passing.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m. at the Pate Cemetery.  Officiating will be the Rev. James Earl Herring.  The family will greet friends and relatives at the cemetery.  Neighbors and friends may also call at the Brock residence.

Janice, known as “Dick” to her closest family, is survived by a son and daughters-in-law, Craig M. and Jennifer M. Brock of Mount Olive, and Susan Brock (widow of son, Stanley Curtis Brock) also of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Evan Curtis Brock and wife, Miranda M. Brock, Bailey Charlette Brock, Kristan Hamm and husband, Ben, Hunter Allen Spell and wife, Ashley, Brooke Taylor Spell, Dallas Bradshaw and wife, Katherine, and Colden Bradshaw and fiancee, Anna Stover; great-grandchildren, Lilly Brock, Conner Hamm, Grayson Hamm, Lincoln Spell, and Everly Spell; a special four-legged grandchild, “Elvis Prespup Brock;” several nieces, and nephews, and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis A. “Curt” Brock; a son, Curtis; a grandson, Currie Alton Brock; her parents, Stanley and Eunice Ward Sanderson; two sisters, Annette S. Holmes and Peggy S. Padgett; and brothers, Milton “Terapin” Sanderson and Durwood Morris “Tommy” Sanderson.

Janice had been a school teacher, beginning her duties at Carver Elementary School in Mount Olive, followed by West Duplin Christian Academy at Kenansville.  Later she would teach special needs students at Sampson Technical College in Clinton.

Janice was of the holiness faith, and had accompanied her husband and others in a gospel quartet, and later her husband and two sons as they sang God’s praises.
