November 16, 2024, 68, La Grange —
March 17, 1956 – November 16, 2024
Cecilia Anne Mitchell Blackwell, 68, was welcomed into eternal rest on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Anne was born in Warren County to the late Ernest Vance Mitchell, Jr. and Annie Laura Williams Mitchell on March 17, 1956.
Working as a nurse throughout her career, Anne’s care spanned from labor and delivery to the nursing home. No matter the location, her care for others was always evident.
Anne’s love of reading was often quenched with new favorites from the public library. Her genre of choice was usually psychological thrillers, falling in line with her favorite television shows—true crime, reality TV, and all the crime shows like CSI and Hawaii Five-O. While all types of music were enjoyable for Anne, she adored Elton John and attended several of his concerts.
With great skill at crocheting, Anne spent much time creating special designs for her family and friends. Finding others of like talent and interest, she looked forward to her Monday get-togethers of her crochet club at the Pink Hill Library where they could work on their projects while having a great time of fellowship.
Dedicated to service to the Lord, Anne was a member of Union Baptist Church. Faithful in worship every Sunday, you would find Anne seated right alongside the rest of her family, offering praises and thanksgiving.
A service of love and remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Rouse Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Hutcheson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Committal will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery.
Anne is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jimmie Blackwell, Jr.; daughter, Laura Blackwell Williford, and husband, Gregory; grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Locklear, Mckenzie Grace Locklear, and Nathan Gage Locklear; as well as many friends from her crochet club, the library, and her church.
