Pearl Biggs Hill, age 90, passed away Saturday evening, October 5th at Brookdale Senior Living. Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence R. Biggs and Minnie Howell Biggs. She was married to the late Blaney W. Hill for 59 years prior to his passing.
Pearl was a faithful member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church and above all else she loved her God, her family, and her church. She was the pianist and organist for the church for over fifty years, was a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the church choir, and was named Lay Woman of the Year for her dedication to the church. She was an avid gardener and was very particular about her garden and her manicured lawn.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 at 6:00 pm in the Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike McAuley officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held immediately following the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. A committal service will be at 12:30 am held on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024 in Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Fred Crank officiating.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her children and their spouses, Jeffrey Blaney Hill, Sr. and wife, Phyllis, Durwood Hill, Karen Hill Brown and husband, George, Hope Hill Gibson and husband, Greg; her grandchildren and their spouses, Amy Hill Miller and husband, Brent, Holly Hill Bishop and husband, Matt, Jeffrey Blaney Hill, Jr. and wife, Christina, Morgan Brown Gurney and husband, Chris, George Brown, III and wife, Leah, Parker Brown, Blane Gibson, Beau Gibson and Pfeifer Hill; great-grandchildren, Hannah Miller, Hadley Bishop, Maddie Bishop, and Hayden Gurney; her brothers, Robert E. Biggs and wife, Carolyn, and Sheldon Biggs; and a sister, Winifred Lowdermilk; her very special friend Eloise Burke; along with her beloved canine baby, Lola.
The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Brookdale Senior Living on County Day Road and Gentiva Hospice Care for their compassionate and loving care.
