Doris Williams Lupton

October 3, 2024, 79, Mount Olive —

Doris Williams Lupton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, October 3, 2024.  Born on May 30, 1945, in Wayne County, NC, Doris was the fifth of six daughters born to Floyd D. and Daisy Mae Williamson Williams.

Doris shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Mitchell Glenn Lupton.  Together, they built a life filled with love and dedication.  Doris attended Seven Springs School and it was there that she met Glenn, the love of her life.

In her early years, Doris found joy and fulfillment working as an emergency medical technician with the Seven Springs Area Rescue Squad where she made a significant impact on her community.  Her passion for jewelry led her and Glenn to open Diamond and Gold Jewelers in Mount Olive, a cherished family business.  Doris also dedicated herself to raising their two daughters, Kimberly and Anita, as a loving and nurturing homemaker.  She also assisted Glenn in the operation of their poultry-producing farm.

In her later years, Doris found great joy working at Spring Creek School where she became a beloved figure among students and staff.  She was an avid supporter of the school’s sporting events, always cheering on the teams with such enthusiasm.  She also loved working in her yard, making sure that it looked its very best.

Doris was a devoted member of Zion Methodist Church.  She is survived by her husband, Mitchell Glenn Lupton; her daughters, Kimberly Lupton of Winterville, and Anita L. Howard and husband, Robert, of Kill Devils Hill; grandchildren, Paige Quinn and husband, Kyle, Jaden R. Howard, and Landon M. Howard; great-grandchildren, Barrett Quinn and Ellington Quinn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille W. and Ed Rouse of Mission, Kansas, Ruth W. Montague of Goldsboro, and Diane W. and Tracy Bissette of Pikeville; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd D. and Daisy Mae Williams; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Athleen W. and Wayne Anderson, and Mildred W. and George Anderson.

Doris loved the Pricetown community where she had lived for 76 years before relocating to Ayden three years ago to be closer to her family.

Doris Lupton’s life will be remembered in a service Saturday, October 5, at 6 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive.  Officiating will be Pastor Doug Johnson.  The family will receive friends during the hour before the service.  Committal rites with burial will be Sunday, October 6, at 2:30  p.m. in the Williams Memorial Cemetery located at Grant’s Chapel Baptist Church.
