Nancy grew up in Anson County and went to Polkton High School where she was a star basketball player. She lived there until she captured the heart of John McNeill. She particularly enjoyed hosting family gatherings at her home and was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Nancy was deeply dedicated to her church and church family. She was a member of New Hope Church in Goldsboro for over 50 years, serving in a variety of roles including choir member, Girl Scout troop leader, Sunday School teacher, and various church committees.
