Bonnie Jo Jones Herring, lifelong resident of the Mount Olive area, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her loving family early Saturday morning, September 28, 2024. Bonnie was 60 years old.
Bonnie, the daughter of the late Elwood and Joyce Sandlin Jones, was raised in Mount Olive. Her primary goal in life was the happiness of her family and the joy of being a grandmother. She had been a homemaker and had assisted her father in administrative duties at Scott and Jones, Inc., and she was a helpmate to her husband in his working endeavors. Her grandparents were the late Jim and Annie Sandlin, and Garvis and Pennie Jones.
Bonnie leaves behind her husband, Kendrick T. “Ken” Herring, of the home; three children and their spouses, Cody and Katelyn Herring, Erica and Justin Creech, and Emily and Daniel Hyde, all of the Mount Olive area; grandchildren, J. T. Creech, Gibson Herring, JoMae Hyde, and Mack Herring; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie J. and Tom Preston of Holly Ridge, and Donna J. and Bill Dawson of Mount Olive; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rose H. and Billy Davis of Deep Run; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and last but not least, her special four-legged child, “Partner.”
Funeral services will be held at Tyndall Funeral Home on Monday, September 30, at 7 p.m. and will be officiated by the Rev. Jeff Dail. Visitation with the family will take place immediately after the service. At other times, the family welcomes relatives, friends, and neighbors to the residence in the Alum Springs Church community. The burial service will be reserved for immediate family members.
