September 8, 2024, 76, Dudley —

Guy was born one of six children to Edward and Lillian P. Potts of Dudley, NC. This family consisted of four boys and two girls: Leslie (Helen) of Goldsboro and Sarah Lynch of Seven Springs.  Guy is preceded in death by Thomas Potts of Texas, Clara Newcomb (Harold) of Dudley, and one unnamed boy who died at birth.

Also deceased is a brother-in-law, Donald Lynch, and a nephew, Gary Lynch. Nephews include Dr. Christopher Potts, and Thomas Potts Jr.;  nieces, Patricia Smith (Mike) and Donna Haggerty (Bill).  Later family additions are Jordan Ford, FL; Jenna Nuneviller of Mount Olive;  Adam Haggerty of Manteo; Anna Haggerty of Currituck and  Amanda Steiner of Sneads Ferry.

Upon Graduation from Brogden High School, Guy attended and graduated from Mt. Olive Junior College in 1967, Holding Technical Institute in 1974, and Campbell College in 1976 with a B.S. degree in business administration.  He retired from the NC ABC Board in 2005 as an Internal Auditor with 30 years of service. Retirement years brought new adventures for Guy, he became involved in  Genealogy and was widely known as a valuable source of help and “will be seen and remembered for doing genealogy.”

Services will be held by the graveside at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2024, at Emmaus Baptist Church, 700 Emmaus Church Road, Dudley, NC 28333.  Rev. Jim Willoughby will be officiating.
