Rosalind Edge

Rosalind Edge

August 19, 2024, 74, Goldsboro –

Rosalind Edge, a sparkling star, was born February 3, 1950, in Wayne County, to the late George “Buttermilk” and Bernice Wilson. On August 19, 2024, in the presence of her family, God chose to peacefully remove that beautiful star from Earth to a place in His heavenly realm.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brothers, Ronnie Wilson and Donnell Wilson.

Rosalind received her formal education from the Wayne County School System. She was a proud 1968 graduate of Dillard High School and rarely missed getting together with her schoolmates during “Alumni Weekend”. After receiving her Associate’s Degree from Wayne Community College, she began her career in New Bern at Vocational Rehabilitation as an Executive Administrative Assistant. She would often remind her loved ones that she “ran the place”. She faithfully drove from Goldsboro to New Bern daily. At the end of her work day, she would take a 15-minute power nap and then drive safely home to her family until she retired and joined the ranks of the NC Department of Retirees.

When given a task, “do it to the best of your ability” was a motto that she lived by until the very end. She exemplified this in the many positions she held throughout the years. As a Past Matron and a Past District #9, now District #12 Administrative Council Matron in the Order of Eastern Star, not only did she lead with excellence, but she rolled up her sleeves and served alongside her sisters of Lady Love Chapter #6. As a Past Loyal Lady Ruler of the C A Whitehead #188, Golden Circle, she was the epitome of servitude through true sisterhood. As Grand Supervisor and Local Advisor to the Shining Star #34 Gleaners, a group that she had a special love for, she taught young ladies what it meant to be Christian leaders and servants.

Rosalind had strong faith in God. She believed that you are to put God first in everything you do and to trust Him even when you don’t understand. Rosalind was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary MBC. To her, Mt Calvary was not just her church, but it was a part of her family. She served God through several ministries there such as the choir, the usher board, the Pastor’s Aide, the “Do What I Can Club” and as a past part-time musician. She also served in the Missionary Department of Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Association.

Rosalind was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. A void will be forever left in ALL that ever came in contact with her, but especially her sons, Bradford Edge Sr. (wife, Vinette) and Brian Edge (wife, Diane); grandchildren, Brad Jr., Bryant, Indya, Mehki, Sterling, Taylor, Sayge, Brian (Shemiah), Antonio (Shauna), and Cheyenne; great-grandchildren, Zayden, Josiah, Serenity; brothers, Connell Wilson (wife, Helen) and Travis Wilson (wife, Paulette); sisters-in-law, Shirley Wilson, and Alice Williams; nieces and nephews, Katina (husband, Kenny), Jason (wife, Athena), Shawn, Marcus, Greg, Travia, and George; grand nieces and nephews, Khadar, Khadin, Khadijah, Jason II, and DeShawn; a host of other relatives and friends including her “Special Sisters” (and you know who you are).

A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Association Headquarters with Rev. Dr.  Winford Galmon officiating and Rev. Brenda Royal presiding. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Goldsboro. The family will receive friends Friday, August 30, 2024, from 6 PM-8 PM at Seymour Funeral Home, Goldsboro.

Services have been entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home.
