August 26, 1950 – August 27, 2024
Dianne Kornegay Newman, 74, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. Dianne was born in Sampson County to the late Herbert and Jane Williams Kornegay on August 26, 1950. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Buddy Newman; and a sister, Sandra Outlaw.
Known for her knack for interior design, Dianne’s home was well-decorated and immaculate. With everything always in its place, a picture of her home on any day could grace the cover of a magazine with its beauty. When Christmas came, her decorations were again on point. There wasn’t a space in the home that wasn’t perfectly decorated, using treasured finds along with wreaths she made by hand. A gracious hostess, her home was always open and welcoming to family and friends.
With an unmatched sense of style, Dianne never left home without being dressed her best. Hair always in place and makeup fully done, her attire was always matching from her clothing to her shoes and earrings. Never one to wear a t-shirt, she could be found doing even the most basic tasks wearing a beautiful blouse and white pants.
Dianne’s love for shopping was a chance to spend time with her sisters. Walking around the mall finding the best outfits, she would offer her advice to them as well. The mall was also a perfect place to get her exercise, and she enjoyed her daily walks with Linda and Raymond Gregory, and Miss Jewel.
With great love for her family, Dianne was most passionate about spending time with her grandchildren. A call or text from them meant Dianne was on her way. Sleepovers at her house were always fun and most often included pizza and doughnuts.
Holding a deep faith, Dianne was a member of her church, Harvest Fellowship, for over 20 years. Actively attending as long as she was able, she was proud of the church’s mission to care for those less fortunate.
The family will receive friends at Harvest Fellowship Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024. A service of love and remembrance will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Pete Norris officiating. Committal will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Dianne is survived by her daughter, Natalie Newman Garris and husband, Joel Franklin Garris; son, James Michael Newman and wife, Mary Talbert Newman; grandchildren, Natalie Noel Garris, Joel Franklin “Joah” Garris, II, Grace Talbert Newman, Jane Hope Newman, and Sara Mae Newman; sister, Gail Herring and husband, Randal; sister-in-law, Patricia Wilson and husband, Dennis; caregiver and family friend, Diana Ellis; along with many special cousins and friends.
