Marlena Hollowell Edwards

August 8, 2024, 49, Wilmington —

Marlena Hollowell Edwards, 49, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior and reunited with her daddy on Thursday, August 8, 2024. She was born in Wayne County to Linda Howell Hollowell and the late Edward Errol Hollowell on October 10, 1974. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Seth and Mae Hollowell, Sudie Howell, and Osbourne Howell.

Education was important to Marlena. She graduated from the University of Mount Olive, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Accounting. Marlena’s life was a testament to selflessness and dedication, evident in her unwavering work ethic. For many years, she has served as the general manager for Seagate Rental Company in Wilmington.

Marlena’s free time was often spent with the bible in hand. It was not uncommon to see her sitting in her comfy chair, with a blanket and the bible in her hands. This time always gave her comfort and peace as she faced life trials. Spending time in her yard and tending to her many plants around the house was always the most enjoyable. Marlena also enjoyed cooking and would always be watching cooking shows so she could try the next delicious dish. She had got where she would eat out at a restaurant and then come home to recreate what she had just enjoyed. Sharing her cooking talents with those she loved at home and church was always a delight.

Faith was a guiding light throughout Marlena’s life. She was a member of Cape Fear Free Will Baptist Church in Wilmington. She fulfilled many roles and served in any way she could. Marlena had a heart for service and used her many gifts for the Lord. Most recently, she was able to offer her talents to the church as an accomplished pianist.

Marlena’s life was a testament to her faith, her courage, and most of all, her love. She was a gift of encouragement to more than she realized. Her legacy will continue to be a bright light for so many.

A service to celebrate Marlena’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Cape Fear F.W.B. Church in Wilmington with Pastor Patrick Hall officiating.
