Four Streets in Goldsboro Currently Closed

The County of Wayne issued a statement on Thursday morning informing residents that Jackson, Tampa, Ninth, and Tenth streets are closed due to water being over the road as Tropical Storm Debby continues to bring rain to the area.

Periods of heavy rain are expected throughout the day.
Wayne County is still expected to see 4-6 inches of rain total with this storm.
Power crews were seen working to restore power along parts of Spence Avenue shortly after 10 a.m. on Thursday morning. Numerous businesses along Spence Avenue were without power and several traffic lights had stopped working.
Reports have come in of trees down and some roadways affected by flash flooding. Please stay off the roads if you can. Remember not to travel through a flooded roadway. Turn around, don’t drown.
Wind gusts up to 40 mph are expected Thursday and Thursday night. The combination of wind and saturated ground increases the risk of trees down and power outages.
There is still a threat of tornadoes on Thursday and Thursday night.

Current projections show the Neuse River cresting at 24 feet early Monday morning, which will impact the Mar-Mac area, Buckhorn Island subdivision, Stevens Mill Road, Arrington Bridge Road, and access roads around Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

Wayne County remains under a flood watch until 9 p.m. on Friday.
