The Management and Staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors join with Holder and connected families to announce the earthly transition of Mr. Alvin Holder, Jr. 46. Mr. Holder transitioned at Wayne-UNC Health Care, Goldsboro, NC.

Alvin Holder, Jr., was born in Wilson County, NC, on May 31, 1978. He departed this earthly life on July 21, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.

He received his formal education in the Wayne County Public School System.

Alvin’s heart was with the youth. As a coach in the youth basketball and baseball leagues for many years, he had a unique ability to connect with children. His passion for them was evident in the way he could always gather them together, to talk and play. The respect the children showed him was a testament to the special bond he shared with them, a bond that will be remembered and cherished.

Alvin was an ardent sports fan, his heart beating for basketball, baseball, and especially football. His unwavering support for the Cincinnati Bengals was a testament to his love for the game. His infectious laughter and witty humor were his trademarks, always bringing joy to those around him. He was never one to shy away from speaking his mind, a quality that endeared him to many.

Alvin’s zest for life was also evident in his love for food. He didn’t just enjoy any food, but good, seasoned soul food. His love for life and good food was infectious, and to know Alvin Jr. was to love him. His absence will be deeply felt, especially during those shared meals that brought so much joy.

Alvin was preceded in death by his son, Malik Holder; his Paternal grandparents, Callie and Herman Holder; his maternal grandparents, Elizabeth Crooms Wells and Pansy Wells; and his aunt, Minister Teresa Howell. Their memories will forever be cherished.

Loving Memories of Alvin Jr. are left to his daughter, Diane Holder; his sons, Tyler Bryant and Tishja Holder; his mother, Pamila Bradberry (William); his father, Alvin Holder, Sr. (Gwendolyn); his brothers, Fredrick Holder (Tiffany) and Ronnell McCalop (Cecilia); his sisters: Marinda Holder, Valencia Holder, Erica Altman Foy (Kevin), Sheila Kelly, and Vanessa Kelly Pearsall (Terry), and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
