Virginia Stevens Fields

Virginia Stevens Fields

July 4, 2024, 82, Goldsboro —

Virginia Stevens Fields, 82, was welcomed into her eternal home on Thursday morning, July 4, 2024. Virginia was born in Wayne County to the late Woodrow Wilson Stevens and Mary Helen Grant Stevens on June 4, 1942. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, J.D. Fields; brothers, David Stevens and Everett Stevens; and sisters, Barbara Grice and Annette Stuart.

Hardworking and determined, Virginia worked many years in accounting at Goldsboro Builders Supply until her health declined. When she came home, cooking, cleaning, and caring for her children while helping her husband with the farm were duties she gladly attended. The gathering of her family around the table was one of her greatest joys, and her pride in each of her grandchildren was evident.

Virginia was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities. She loved the Savior and believed that if you put Him at the center of your life, everything else would fall into place. Virginia was humble, compassionate, and generous to a fault.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Virginia’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Bishop Breen Smith presiding. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Virginia is survived by her sons, Rex Fields of Goldsboro and Jeff Fields and wife, Jennifer of Pikeville; grandchildren, Brittany Fryrear (Chris), J.T. Fields (Amber Purdue), Jackson Fields, Addison Fields, and Morgan Fields; and was anticipating the birth of her first great-grandchild in October. She is also survived by her sister, Libby Hooks, and husband, Mike; brothers, Woodrow Stevens and wife, Sally, Charles Stevens, Jerry Stevens and wife, Joyce, and Wilson Stevens and wife, Michelle; and sister-in-law, Janie Stevens.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
