Bobby Woodrow O’Daniel passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the age of 84 with his wife by his side.

Bobby was born April 4, 1940, in Mebane, North Carolina to the late William Edward and Minnie Pierce O’Daniel. He was the youngest of eight children. Bobby came to live with relatives Dr. S.D. and Leonora O’Daniel Poole in Goldsboro at age 9.

Bobby graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1959. It was here where he met his wife, Judy, and lettered in five sports: football, basketball, baseball, track, and tennis. He received a football scholarship to Guilford College and played all four years; he also played baseball for two years there. Bobby graduated in 1963 with a degree in Economics. He was self-employed in real estate and insurance.

Bobby married Judy Summerlin O’Daniel and had one child, Lynn O’Daniel Gentry. Everyone who knew Bobby knew that his greatest joy and proudest achievement was being a loving father and grandfather. He also enjoyed playing and watching all sports, coastal fishing, crossword puzzles, and eating out with his life-long buddies.

In addition to his parents, William and Minnie O’Daniel, and his uncle and aunt, Dr. S.D. and Leonora Poole, Bobby was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn O’Daniel Gentry. He is survived by his wife, Judy Summerlin O’Daniel; son-in-law, Tim Gentry; granddaughter, Danielle Gentry; grandson, Chandler Gentry and his wife, Courtney Gentry.

A graveside service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held at Willow Dale Cemetery on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 11 AM with Rev. Karl Grant presiding. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
