Rodney “Jack” Deaver, 84, a resident of the Dudley area, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 2, 2024, at home.
He was the son of the late Jim and Mary Whitfield Deaver and was one of their six sons. He served in the United States Army from 1959 until 1979, with most of his service duties being at Fort Bragg. After his retirement from the military and due to ailing parents, he and his wife left Fayetteville and came to Dudley to assist. Here he worked at Carolina Turkeys for a while, then operated a used car business along with a community store at Dudley, with the assistance of his wife.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Carolyn Hardy Deaver; his parents, and his five brothers.
He leaves behind two sons, David Earl Deaver with his life partner, Sherrie Mae Jackson, and Timothy Jack Deaver; a grandson, Tracey A. Deaver; a granddaughter, Kristinia Marie D. Williams; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan, Victoria, Meadow, and Joe Williams, all of the Dudley area. Also, there are several nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive on Saturday, July 6, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church Cemetery, Moss Hill.
