Robert Adolphus Bell, 80, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Goldsboro Assisted Living. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 10, 1943, to the late Dolphus Abram and Virginia Hardison Bell.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bill Gibbons; and granddaughter, Abbey Gibbons.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Sandra Alford Bell; son, Jeffrey Bell (Amanda Duncan); daughter, Emily Bell Gibbons (Christopher Tebo); grandchildren, Finnegan Bell, Teague Bell, and Will Gibbons; bonus grandchildren, Cullen El Jaouhari, Teagan El Jaouhari, Vivian Tebo, and Eleanor Tebo; sister, Linda Thigpen (George); brother-in-law, Wayne Alford (Donna); and nieces and nephews, Beth Edmonds, Jennifer Jones, and Mark Thigpen.

Bobby attended Goldsboro schools and graduated with the class of 1961 from Goldsboro High School. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Textile Technology and earned a Master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from East Carolina University. He retired from the State of North Carolina where he worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for many years.

Bobby was a dedicated and faithful member of the First Christian Church of Goldsboro. For more than 70 years, he worshipped with, served with, and loved that congregation.

For over 20 years, Bobby served in the North Carolina National Guard. He served in the same company with his father for several of those years.

A service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2024, in the sanctuary of First Christian Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. Private interment will take place at Wayne Memorial Park.

The family appreciates the wonderful care given to Bobby in his final years. This includes his home care aide as well as the staff at Goldsboro Assisted Living.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Christian Church, 1609 Ash Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
