Billy Wayne Hill, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Wilson Healthcare and Rehab. Born in Johnston County on September 18, 1944, he was the son of the late Tonie Hill and Ludie Edwards Hill.

In addition to his parents, Billy Wayne is preceded in death by his siblings, Braxton Hill, Ralph Hill, Josephine Parrish, and an infant brother.

Billy Wayne is survived by his son, Billy Wayne Hill, Jr. and wife, Michelle; grandson, Roger Liverman and wife, Cheyanne; brother, Phillip Ray Hill, and wife, Sue; and sister, Geraldine (Jeri) Lewis. Billy Wayne is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

For many years, Billy Wayne worked as an electrician. After his time as an electrician, he would do some farming. When not at work, Billy Wayne could be seen outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting in his younger years. Nothing made Billy Wayne happier than being beside a pig cooker with friends and family at a pig pickin’. Billy Wayne could also be seen strumming his guitar and playing bluegrass music. He served his country in the United States National Guard. Billy Wayne will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all.

A graveside service to celebrate Billy Wayne’s life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at New Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor James Murray presiding. The family will receive friends at Kenly Funeral Service prior to the graveside, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
