Mary Lee Carter Peele, 90, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Greene County on January 12, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Linwood Earl and Henrietta Howell Carter. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, George Franklin Peele, Jr.

Mary is survived by her children, Mike Peele and wife, Teresa, Pam Smith and husband, Mark, Bonnie Bledsoe and husband, Richard, and Daryl Peele and wife, Susie; grandchildren, Misty Deese (Jeff), Jason Bolduc (Ashley), Cory Bolduc (Krystal), Brock Henderson (Nely), Brandon Bledsoe (Akenia); step-grandchildren, Crystal Hepburn (Chris), Travis Smith (Jessica), Hunter Freeman (Katie), Taylor Narron (Dustin), and Edward Bledsoe; great-grandchildren, Ethan Bolduc, Bryton Bolduc, Jordan Henderson, Allison Bolduc, Grayson Henderson, Hudson Henderson, Brooklyn Henderson, Kaitlyn Henderson, Maddie Henderson, Elijah Bledsoe, Ezra Bledsoe, and Ephraim Bledsoe; six step-great-grandchildren; brother, Ronnie Carter; and sister, Tootsie Dail.

Mary worked alongside her husband throughout their lives. First, they farmed together and later they owned and operated George’s Grill on Hwy 13 N. Over the years their presence at the grill cultivated many loyal customers and friends.

Mary was a dedicated and faithful member of Wood’s Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Mary’s life at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow in the Peele Family Cemetery. At other times, the family will be at her home.
