Reba Best Ray, 76, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at her home in Raleigh. R.B. was born in Wayne County to the late Marshall Haywood Best and Eva Mae Smith Best on July 14, 1947. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Mae Best.
R.B. was a 1965 graduate of Goldsboro High School. She also graduated with an accounting degree from East Carolina University. R.B. later became a certified public accountant and was a member of the North Carolina Board of Certified Public Accountant Examiners. Before retiring, R.B. served as the Vice President of Finance at Plaza Associates, Inc.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A private graveside service for the family will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery.
R.B. is survived by her daughter, Shelley Ray Flores, and husband, R. Thomas Flores, Jr. of Goldsboro; sister, Marsha Best Taylor, and husband, William R. Taylor, III of Hampstead; and grandchildren, Alexander Kendall Flores and Braxton Pate Flores.
