Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

On May 2nd, members of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office DWI Task Force conducted a traffic stop for a Chapter 20 Violation.

After the traffic stop was made, a K9 was called to assist further. After a positive K9 alert to the odor of narcotics a probable cause search was conducted of the vehicle.

After the search, Melissa Rochelle Crawford, 54, Hampstead, was found in possession of a large amount of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside of her vehicle.

Crawford was charged with felony level I trafficking and transportation of methamphetamine, felony level I trafficking possession of methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and simple possession of Sch. IV.

Crawford was placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $150,000 secured bond.
