Marla Marie Brind Escobedo, 78, passed away at her home on Friday, April 26, 2024. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 6, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Burton Brind and Betty Parks Brind.

In addition to her parents, Marla is preceded in death by her husband, Natividad Escobedo; and siblings, Janet Brind, Edward Brind, Robert Brind, Deborah Brind, and Pamela Brind.

Marla is survived by her children, Tonya Porter and husband, Calvin, and Larry A. Porter; grandchildren, Marla Hughes, Evan Green, James Haney, and Jerry Porter; and a sister, Tesa Brind. Marla is also survived by many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren whom she loved very much.

For many years, Marla worked as a seamstress. When not at work, she could be seen at home making beautiful quilts. Marla would never miss an opportunity to play a practical joke on her friends and family. Marla loved being outdoors, admiring beautiful flowers and the whistling of the birds.

No formal services will be held at this time.

In remembrance of Marla, the family suggests memorials be sent to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692, or plant a flower in memory of Marla.
