Kathy Baker Taylor peacefully transitioned from this life while surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 21, 2024. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Ramona Jones Baker on November 3, 1962.

The youngest of four children, Kathy was well accustomed to caring for the needs of others. Her aim and goal in life was to offer kindness and compassion to anyone in need. After working many years at Frigidaire, Kathy began her self-employment journey as a caregiver and housekeeper. This allowed her to do what she loved most, which was care for others. She went above and beyond her duties to make certain that her clients received the best care possible.

Some of Kathy’s favorite pastimes were fishing, camping at Kerr Lake, and gardening. She boasted of a rich vegetable garden and beautiful blossoming flowers each year. Kathy’s family will benefit from the fruits of her labor for years to come.

Despite Kathy’s illness, she remained a determined fighter, refusing to give up or give in. Though she will be deeply missed as a loving wife, mother, and memaw, her legacy will continue to live on through her daughters and grandchildren.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at Rouse Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Seth Jones officiating. Committal will follow at Westview Cemetery in Kinston. The family will receive friends for visitation in the hour before the service.

Kathy is survived by her husband over nearly 22 years, Horace Taylor; daughters, Samantha Lopez (Scooter Kitchen) and Kimberly Gabreath; six grandchildren, including special granddaughter, Kayley Reyes and husband, Joan; seven great-grandchildren, including special great-granddaughters, Leah and Aubree Reyes; two brothers, Bobby Baker (Sally) and Tommy Baker (Tess); and one sister, Anita Rhodes.
