Firefighters Respond to Friday Morning Structure Fire

On Friday morning firefighters from Mar-Mac, Grantham, and Thoroughfare were dispatched to a working structure fire at 100 Ironwood Road in the Pine Grove subdivision off Black Jack Church Road.

As fire and EMS personnel arrived on the scene they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the roof of the structure. Everyone living in the house managed to get out safely except several of the family pets.

As firefighters entered the structure several of the pets managed to run out. Using several attack lines firefighters managed to gain control of the blaze.

During a secondary search, Grantham firefighter Trey Pate found and retrieved one of the cats that was in the structure and turned it over to one of the EMS personnel on the scene. Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours to make sure the fire was completely out.

Power and water companies and the American Red Cross were called to the scene to assist the family.
