Dolores Avila Gil, 79, passed away at Wayne UNC Health Care on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Born in Mexico on November 2, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Alberto and Hermelinda Avila. In addition to her parents, Dolores is preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.
Dolores is survived by her husband, Ignacio Gil; daughters, Rosi Vega and husband, Rosario, Rebecca Huerta and husband, Baltazar, Leticia Zavala and husband, Benito, Blanca Castaneda and husband, Onofre, Maria Gil, and Edith Gil and husband, Ryan; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and brother Alberto Avila. Dolores is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Dolores’ greatest joy in her life was her family. Each moment spent together with her family is a memory she cherished forever. She loved cooking and having all the family together. In her free time, Dolores loved needlework and crocheting.
A time of visitation and remembrance for Dolores will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
