Bobby O. Shifflett, Jr., 63, born in Wayne County, peacefully passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, at Willow Creek Nursing Home. Born in Wayne County on January 27, 1961, he was the son of Betty Pierce Shifflett and the late Bobby O. Shifflett Sr., Senior Master Sgt. US Air Force.

Bobby was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings. He loved to watch football and rarely missed a game. His knowledge of sports history was impressive. His smile could light up a room and his sense of humor always brought a laugh. He made friends wherever he went and really enjoyed conversations and sharing a cold beer with family and friends. Bobby also enjoyed listening to music, particularly classic rock n roll. Some of his favorites were The Beatles, Nickelback, ZZ Top, and Aerosmith.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 19, 2024, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate his life in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley, NC. at 3:00 p.m. The family will also receive friends at his home at 1802 E. Pine St., Goldsboro, NC.

Bobby is survived by his mother, Betty Pierce Shifflett; sisters, Dianne Graham and husband, Ernie of Pikeville, NC, and Amy Sterkenburg and husband, Joe of Landenberg, PA. He is also survived by his niece Stephanie Kirby and nephews C.G. Kirby and wife, Brook, Josh Kirby and Heather Wolfe Smith, Dustin Sterkenburg and wife, Karrie, and Chad Sterkenburg and wife, Erin. He is also survived by great nieces and nephews, Trey Manzulli, Ashlyn Manzulli, Tyler Wade, Tanner Wade, Chloe Lee, Carla Kirby, Tripp Kirby, Jake Kirby, Arlee Kirby, Briley Smith, Carter Sterkenburg, Ava Sterkenburg, Landon Sterkenburg, and Karys Sterkenburg. Bobby is also survived by uncles, Michael and wife, Kitty Shifflett of VA and Ernest and wife, Teresa Shifflett of VA, and aunt, Peggy Weikle of VA and their families.
