Norma Boyles Kornegay

Norma Boyles Kornegay

April 7, 2024, 85, Goldsboro —

Norma Boyles Kornegay, 85, entered her heavenly home on Sunday afternoon at Wayne UNC Healthcare. She was born in Stokes County to the late Marlowe Cline Boyles and Mildred Setliff Boyles on May 20, 1938. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard C. Andrews and Leonard W. Kornegay.

For many years, Norma was an active member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church. There, she faithfully served her Lord in many capacities, including teaching Sunday school, working in the nursery, and helping with the annual Vacation Bible School. Around her neighborhood, she faithfully served as a volunteer with WATCH.

While working at the Goldsboro News-Argus in her early years, Norma met the man who would become her loving husband. Norma and Leonard worked together at the News-Argus until he started his own business, Kornegay Printing, where a 44-year span of entrepreneurship ensued. Even after Leonard’s death in 2015, Norma continued to operate the business, remaining committed to the success that had come from their hard work through the years. Norma’s work ethic and commitment was unmatched.

Always enjoying working in her yard, Norma made sure that every pinecone was picked up and that the pine straw was always raked. Her yard stayed in immaculate condition, with flowers constantly in bloom, and every detail reviewed by Norma’s keen eye. No matter the season, you would find Norma’s yard in pristine condition.

Though Norma never learned to swim, this didn’t keep her away from spending time with her husband. She wanted to be wherever he was, and if that meant fishing, she went fishing. Wherever the two were together, the time was precious and always desired.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a graveside service celebrating Norma’s life at 2:00 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Phyllis Vail officiating.

Norma is survived by her children, Deborah Kornegay Johnson and husband, Craig, Donna Andrews Amos, Robin Kornegay Treider and husband, Mark, Gary Andrews and wife, Betty and Lynn Andrews Parham and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Jamie Wiggins and spouse Jack, Laura Wiggins, Stuart Johnson and wife Ashley, Michael Treider and wife Erica, Sarah Amos and fiancée, C.J. Dominguez, Catherine Amos, Mary Madeline Amos, and Sam Andrews; great-grandchildren, Tyler Wiggins, Braelyn Johnson, Benson Johnson, Baylor Johnson, Asilyn Treider, Faye Treider, Faelyn Treider and Elowyn Treider.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Norma’s memory to the Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361 or the charity of one’s choice.
