Mr. Huron Lamont Grimes, Jr., known to most as Ron Grimes, passed away in the early morning of Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024.

Ron was born January 5, 1954 to Katherine Troutman Grimes and Huron Lamont Grimes.  He grew up in the Piney Grove area in Sampson County.

Ron graduated from Hobbton High School in 1972.  He completed his associate degree from N.C. State University in 1974.  After graduating, he returned home and began a farming career which he enjoyed and worked hard at.

Ron is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Katherine Grimes Bradshaw and Dallas Bradshaw of Faison; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Loretta Barefoot of Faison, and Beatsy and Charles Stevens of Sneads Ferry;  Other survivors include two nephews, Jay Barefoot and wife, Rita, of Apex, and Blake Barefoot and wife, Deborah, of Wilmington.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, James Owen “Jimmy” Barefoot.

His life will be remembered at Faison Methodist Church on Thursday, April 4, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m.  Officiating will be church pastor, David Helbig.  The service will conclude with his remains being laid to rest at Wayne Memorial Park.
