GPD Asking Public for Help With Information in Fatal Hit-and Run

The Goldsboro Police Department is asking the public for information regarding a fatal hit-and-run that occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Mar. 23 in the 3100 block of Central Heights Road.

At 10:30 a.m. on Mar. 23, officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a welfare check in the 3100 block of Central Heights Road.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive individual, Mauricio Gomes, 45, Goldsboro, near the roadway as a result of an apparent traffic collision

EMS responded and declared Gomes deceased. The involved vehicle did not remain at the scene.

A next of kin notification was made with Gomes’ family.
